ACRT

The ACRT was the standard “Crash One” throughout the RAF up until the mid ‘70s after which it was gradually replaced by TACR1 and TACR2 AFFF vehicles.  Built on a long wheelbase Landrover chasis, it’s main armourment consisted of two X 200lb Dry Powder Kettles which could be pressurised from inside the cab with nitrogen, and delivered through  2 X100 foot lengths of canvas hose to achieve rapid flame knock-down which enabled rescue crews to gain access to cockpits and aircraft entrances.
