1.Mk 5A Crash (22 AG 49): The fireman that spent 56 days in the Marine
Barracks in Cyprus for the MK5A crash was not driving it. He was in the
Airmen’s Mess storeroom at the time and the Head Cook was driving it.
But one month after coming out of detention he was promoted to Corporal,
so it all ended well!

The above is a picture of RAF Stanley sent in by Ray Fearnley. It was
taken from a C130, you can just see the Fire Section and a MK9 in the bottom
left of the picture.

When we were called to Brize and mustered, no-one really knew what was
what, we spent approx. a week there then 10 days at St Mawgan then
finally the train to Southanpton. A month later we arrived At Falklands,
this is Southampton Docks, In picture; SAC Davis, SAC Inglis, SAC
Pittock, CPL Mullen, SAC Effer
This most of the crew that were detached to the Falklands with Wilf in
May/June 82.

A visit by the AOC accompanied by the Commandant General of the RAF Regiment; as I escorted the two Senior Officers down the line introducing them to the crew (Sean Bolland) the lad third from the left had put on a plastic red nose.

A little bit of RAF Fire Service History. This presentation was for the winners of the Bomber Command Fire Fighting Trophy (Non Flying Stations) 1961. RAF Hemswell won the Trophy 3 Years running.1961-3. The completion was between the 4 Thor Missile Stations, RAF Feltwell, RAF Driffield, RAF North Luffenham & RAF Hemswell.
